Description

His long and winding road has brought him to a legendary western ranch—to the brothers he calls friends . . . and a woman who could change his roving ways . . .

Turning his back on his American father’s business empire was the smartest decision Rio Martinez ever made. Now, after a high-flying career on the rodeo circuit, the world champion bull rider is ready for a change of pace. A summer hiatus working the Morgan brothers’ California ranch turns into the hope of forever when Rio meets a beautiful French baker who makes him realize what’s missing from his restless life.

After her husband abandoned her, Yvonne Payet threw herself into running the café that was her dream. In the welcoming community of Morgantown, she found a place to call home. She cherishes her hard-won independence, and doesn’t need another handsome heartbreaker calling the shots. But Rio isn’t just the sexiest, most arrogant cowboy she ever met—he’s got great ideas for expanding her business. With a reality TV show on the horizon and her ex demanding a second chance, Yvonne has to decide which sunset she wants to ride off into . . .

Praise for The Reluctant Cowboy

“Pearce sets up solid main-character arcs and creates good chemistry in a realistic western. While Pearce's descriptions of the ranch will inspire dreams of visiting one, the family secrets are alluring enough to make readers eager for the next book.”

Rio Martinez, the current World Champion Bull Rider, is in limbo. Not sure if he wants to defend his title, he decides to take the Morgan brothers up on their offer to help out at their ranch for the summer. While there, Rio receives several calls from his dad requesting a meeting. As much as Rio wants to ignore his dad's request, Rio accepts the invitation per his mom's request. Rio would do anything for his mom, but his relationship with his dad is strained, to say the least. Yvonne Payet, owner and chef of a cafe in Morganstown, is happy with the life she's made for herself post divorce. Yvonne's even had an offer to possibly star in a reality tv show featuring her cafe. When she meets Rio, the electricity burns between them. Neither is looking to commit, but a good time between the sheets may be in order. As they spend more time with each other, Rio knows his heart has become involved. Now he just has to convince Yvonne to take a chance on them. With a controlling father, greedy/unscrupulous ex, secrets, and differing professional goals a relationship seems impossible. Although this was Rio and Yvonne's story, I would've liked to catch up on the Morgan's a little more. Otherwise, this was a very enjoyable read. So many lessons to be learned. What we grow up believing as children, often isn't the whole story. Divorce is devasting in itself, but to experience abuse (physical and power) is horrible. Although Rio's dad was a self made multi-millionaire, it came at a high price. Proving money can NOT buy happiness! Yvonne and Rio were a perfect match and I LOVED the ending! I read a gifted copy of this novel and all opinions stated are my own.

So not only are the Morgans gorgeous, honest, and loyal but apparently so are their friends… specifically one sexy bull rider named Rio Martinez. I swear, if you’re a heterosexual woman visiting the Morgan Ranch, it must be physically impossible to keep your tongue from hanging out of your mouth. Neither Rio nor Yvonne were looking for a relationship, and in fact were both actively trying to avoid it, but love will sometimes just not be ignored. Sometimes the best things to happen to you in your life are totally unexpected. This book and Rio and Yvonne’s love story will completely captivate you. Every single book in this phenomenal series has touched my heart, and this is certainly no exception. I adored this book from start to finish and was truly sad to see it end. When this series comes to completion, I will miss each and every one of these characters. I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this sensational series. *I was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.
