Description

In that perfect stranger, I found my fairytale…

Olivia Cadwell, brilliant with numbers but still having trouble figuring out where she fits into the world, is on the run from her hometown, courtesy of her mother's boyfriend—who has decided that Olivia is his next target.

Leo Folley, head of the multi-billion-dollar company his father started, is minding his own business and carrying on as usual… until his publicist gives him a deadline: Find a girlfriend, play nice with the press, and be a better face for the company, or the board is going to make trouble.

When Leo finds Olivia sleeping in her car in the alley outside of his office, he sees the perfect answer to his dilemma: a girl who needs money and a place to stay in exchange for playing his date for the big charity auction. For Olivia, it's the perfect solution: money, a place to stay, and safety from the man she's sure is searching for her. What's not to love?

They both believe they can get through the week without taking anything too seriously.

They're both wrong.

A job is a job, until you're the boss' pretty woman…

WTH? The whole book was internal dialogue! There was rare ACTUAL character interaction. And ROMANCE??? I’m still looking for the romance?!?! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!!!

This appears to be a book for more of a younger audience, and focuses a lot on describing details and having the characters communicate in sarcastic zingers vs a natural conversation. It’s a bit hard to read through, and the cover is misleading about the level of spice, but the idea is there.

The book is okay, I found it a bit boring and not my cup of tea. If you’re looking for a slow build up type or romance book this would better suit you. It’s not even romantic because nothing happens between the characters until you’re more that 60% through the book and even then the romance is not sizzling or special. Spoiler: If you’re looking for sex scenes or smut this is not the book for you, nothing happens between them until close to chapter 20 and then when you finally get a sex scene it’s short and unsurprisingly boring.

Author self critiques her own work through the voices of her characters, calling her own work “really badly written.” Rather than telling a story, she tried to engage in a dialogue with her readers, and the effect falls flat. Cliffhanger, but I didn’t actually care and will not read the next in the series.
